Searching for the Grave of Anna Nicole Smith in Nassau Bahamas

Two tragedies buried in the Bahamas the death of Anna Nicoles beloved son Daniel seems like some dark Greek tragedy where all that Anna wanted as a little girl was to have a daughter, and I too had the same wish, and like Anna my first child was a son, and that didn't mean we didn't get what we wanted we got sons who we loved and strived to make a better life for, and then we both got the daughters second. In my case I have been disconnected by a mother as bad as Virgie the horrific thing that called herself a mother and left her own daughter's corpse decomposing while she was arguing where to bury her daughter as though in death Anna was her possession. That's unspeakable and speaks to the bad mother that Anna suffered. The saddest thing though is the circumstances of Daniel's death. Here he was filled with life to embrace his mother and his new sister and sit beside her in the hospital and that he might actually die right beside his mother as she slept and that no staff would notice? It's just so heavy. The image of mother realizing that for a few days she had what she wanted a son and a daughter and they were all three connected and then to wake up and see this beloved son lifeless? I can understand her downward spiral and that need to be with her son overriding the joy of the new daughter. The other tragedy is that people often say Anna died of an overdose at the Hardrock and this is not true. She died of an infection which was if she hadn't worried about the bad press and gotten herself to a hospital was curable, but in a way I think she gave up in her mind and in her heart wanted to be with her son and her body gave in and her spirit left. To leave her body in a state of decomposition to argue in a Florida court that she belonged in the town she escaped in Texas? Thank goodness for a judge who was a human and reunited mother and son in the Bahamas. It reminds that she jumped in that coffin in the first place and in the end she lays beside her son in relative anonymity unbothered and the tombstone tells the story. The white engraving on the black is something I will never forget seeing on my scooter ride on Nassau.

Sunrise in Nassau Bahamas
Sunrise in Nassau Bahamas

If you're up early enough? Sometimes you'll see quite literally the light beats the rain, even in Nassau the Bahamas.

I don't know about early birds and worms, but all about light rewards

That time when you're the first one on deck and anything's possible

Until I saw the light hit lighthouse point as we cruised into port I thought maybe the whole "cruising" thing was stupid. I mean you go into a port for somewhere between four to eight hours and you're supposed see an entire Island and suck in the culture?

What to do with five hours in Nassau?

I was told on the ship that there was no way to visit the grave of Anna Nicole Smith and her son Daniel's grave. Two tragedies that intersected and ended in the Bahamas. Cemeteries are open to the public, but where to look for the single grave of two souls?

As any real mother will tell you, whether in life or in death your place is with your child. Anna Nicole Smith wasn't just a product of the American media. Underneath all that was a good mother, and her story to be reunited with her son upon both of their deaths? That's one that has always tugged at my heart strings, and so I looked at the dual grave as triumph in death. The marker in the common cemetery speaks of an uncommon battle for love even after death. I did shed a tear. Virgie Arthur Anna's estranged mother had failed.

Anna Nicole Smith's Bahamian Grave

A mother (Virgie Arthur) who on February 21, 2007 will leave her daughter Anna Nicole Smith's body decomposing in Broward County Florida even though she died in a Seminole sovereign casino on February 8, 2007, so the case was forced to be heard by Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin. The poor man in a black robe had to endure days of testimony including this doozy by Virgie "She was on Valium. She liked downers." Virgie was a fucking downer. What kind of mother will publicly state in Florida courtroom that she knew her daughter's last wishes when the wench (Virgie) admitted they only talked every few months. Obviously they weren't close if that same mother will speak in open court so newspapers have to report her slanderous quotes that her daughter sounded "drugged"? A mother who even in death smeared her only daughter. A mother so divisive that she could make the guy (her lawyer Howard Stern) who falsely claimed to be the baby dad of Dannielynne and the biological father of that same little girl Larry Birkhead agree on something? A place of burial outside any state in America? By the end even the judge was crying as he sent "the body" of Anna Nicole Smith back to the Bahamas where she had buried her son Daniel Smith September 10, 2006. I remember well the tragic irony that Anna Nicole Smith who so wanted a daughter brought one to life September 7, 2006 only to have her son visit his new sister in a Bahamian hospital where he would die in a chair beside his mother three days later of what was finally determined to be an overdose of a combination of drugs including Methadone and antidepressants. Pretty damn depressing (the death) but what's more depressing really than a grandmother who even in death tries to control the placement of the body of her own daughter and grandson? So for me? The grave is a victory marker. A place on island far away from the abuse where a mother and son are forever together. Maybe in this case? The classic "Rest in Peace" fits. The grandmother who treated them like pieces? Well Virgie finally died in 2018 a year later and is buried in Klein Memorial Park, magnolia, Montgomery County Texas. Minus a daughter and grandson. Now that's a plus!
